PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
1) Do you offer ongoing financial help?
A: Currently we offer emergency food subsidies for a period of two years, with an option to extend up to a maximum of one year in special circumstances. We also provide referrals to additional community resources, including financial assistance, and government benefits programs.
2) What areas do we cover?
A: At the moment our focus is on covering food subsidies, supporting the Holocaust survivors’ program, and providing referrals to various agencies that offer counseling, law services, affordable housing, financial support, and employment opportunities, etc. Check our programs and services page for a complete list of what we do.
3) Do you provide counseling services?
A: No, we don’t currently have counseling services at this time. However, we can refer you to the appropriate resources. We also have a list of links to resources in the community click here.
4) What type of employment services do you offer?
A: We don’t formally offer employment services at this time but can help you make connections and network with potential employers within the greater Jewish community.

5) Who qualifies for assistance?
A: Typically, potential clients are interviewed by our social worker and assessed according to need.
6) How do I get in touch if I need assistance?
A: Best way to reach us is to phone 250.704.2744 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and one of our volunteers will get in touch with you as soon as possible. If this a life-threatening crisis or emergency please call 911.
7) Can anyone use the services of JFSVI?
A: Although we are a faith-based organization, we do not discriminate based on age, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, or disabilities, however, we do operate within the context of Jewish values. Our clients include people of all ages and backgrounds including young families with children, adults, seniors, immigrants and more.
8) What types of donations do you accept?
A: As a non-profit organization, we highly encourage our peers and businesses to give monetary donations to support individuals and families on our client list, or to fund our various programs.
9) Do you accept old computers, furniture, clothing?
A: We don’t have the capacity to take used furniture, household goods or electronics at this time. You are welcome to donate those items to a community Thrift shop such as the Salvation Army Thrift Store or any local Habitat for Humanity ReStore location. Alternatively, we are happy to accept cash donations from the sale of your used household items.
